Tathlina Lovlin

Potter

While growing up in Yellowknife, Tathlina Lovlin discovered pottery through the Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Craft at 8 years old. By the age of 15, she was teaching the kids class through the Guild and managing the open studio time on weekends. In 2000, Tathlina enrolled in Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. Through her university years, she continued pottery as a balance to a busy course load. In 2006, she and her husband moved to the Elk Valley. For 10 years, she worked for the coal mines while producing pottery from her basement studio. In 2016, she left the mining industry to stay at home with her kids. Around the same time she started teaching wheel classes through the Elkford Arts Council for both adults and children. With almost thirty years of throwing experience, Tathlina has started expanding her hobby studio into a business from her home. Based out of Elkford, she can be found at several local Farmer’s markets in the area, and on Facebook at Tathlina’s Pottery.
