How to join Fernie Arts Co-op.

We are BC Co-operative that provides a retail outlet for local artists and crafters to sell their original handmade items. You can apply to be a Working Member or Consignee for which different monthly rental and commission rates apply. Members must be full time residents and live between the Crowsnest Pass and Jaffray. Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis. Please view the below forms if you are interested in joining the Fernie Arts Coop.

Submitting Your Artwork 

  • The Fernie Arts Co-op charges a non-refundable application fee of $25 to jury the artwork of new applicants. The fee is due when you submit your application and artwork for review. 

  • The Jury Committee requires five (5) pieces of artwork to jury, including one original. The pieces must be complete, priced and retail ready. 

  • The Jury Committee shall judge artwork according to Quality, Design, Originality, Workmanship, Professionalism, Presentation and the Benefit to the Co-op. 

  • Please submit a short biography with your artwork to be juried. 

Application

  • If the Jury Committee does not accept your artwork, you may re-apply in 6 months. 

Membership Conditions (Working Member) 

  • Members shall pay an Annual Fee of $60. 

  • Members shall receive 5 feet of wall space or equivalent floor space at a rate of $35 per month and pay a 15% commission which shall be deducted from your monthly sales cheque. 

  • Members shall purchase one (1) share in the Fernie Arts Co-op at a cost of $5.00, to be returned upon departure. 

  • Each Member shall make a commitment to volunteer as a Salesclerk in the store. Current shift requirements are three 4 hour shifts per month. 

  • Each Member shall volunteer on at least one committee. (For example, Window Display) 

Consignment Conditions 

  • Consignees shall pay an Annual Maintenance Fee of $60. 

  • Consignees shall receive 4 feet of wall space or equivalent floor space at a rate of $50 per month and pay a 30% commission rate which shall be deducted from your monthly sales cheque.
