Melanie MacVoy
Painter
Melanie MacVoy is a contemporary painter and has been residing in Fernie since 2000. Her acrylic paintings are recognized for their earth tones, natural lighting and unique perspectives. As an avid hiker, mountain biker and skier, Melanie enjoys the opportunity to visit mountaintops and wilderness areas on a regular basis. She draws on these experiences as inspiration for her paintings which feature rocky mountain landscapes and interior old growth cedar trees. She has recently delved into the practice of en plein air painting which has sparked a period of growth and productivity. Melanie grew up in London, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and minor in Arts Administration. She has also studied at UBC and Emily Carr University after moving out west in 1995. In 2018, she was accepted as an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her artwork is collected by local and international nature and art lovers alike.
