Kathy Stead
Painter
Kathy was born and raised on the shores of Lake Superior near Thunder Bay, Ontario, and still tries to return there every summer. She moved west in 1980 and settled in Fernie, which she now calls home. Kathy was a high school art teacher for 32 years. She taught in a variety of locations: Thunder Bay, Calgary, Sparwood, as well as in Fernie itself. She still misses working with the students. Since retiring, she has devoted her time to painting, travelling, gardening and staying fit outside. Kathy enjoys plein air painting as much as possible, taking her inspiration from the colours and forms of the natural world. She has been a member of the Art Co-op for 10 years and enjoys meeting fellow artists and the public.
