Tristen Perras

Mixed-Media, Jewellery

Tristen has been pursuing musical and artistic outlets since she was a little girl and is constantly inspired to create from her heart through her hands. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, she moved to Fernie in 2004 for the legendary powder and ended up staying for the amazing community and sense of belonging that it now provides. She has been a teacher in Fernie since 2008. Tristen’s focus is on unique and stylish hand-knitted and crocheted items using a variety of wool/yarn blends adorned with vintage buttons and brooches for cold winter days. Her jewellery is all handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces which incorporate vintage, up-cycled, and/ or natural elements including leather, semiprecious stones, or bone. She combines her love of nature and people with her sense of colour and harmony to create unusual pieces also using sea glass, shells, pearls, skeleton keys, and old coins. Being an avid antique hunter, she enjoys giving new life to old treasures. Tristen loves to travel and keeps getting inspired by the places she visit and the people she meet. She believes in the working artist and the handmade revolution.
