Introducing the 2025 Fernie Arts Co-op Board of Directors

Happy you are here!

Every year, a dedicated team of five individuals takes on the responsibility of overseeing the operations of the Fernie Arts Co-op. This passionate group of artists and makers ensures the Co-op continues to thrive as a vibrant hub for local art and creativity.

We’re excited to introduce the 2025 Board of Directors and highlight the incredible talents they bring to the organization.

Natalie Tretyak – President & Marketing Committee
A feltmaker, Natalie Tretyak is originally from Siberia. Her eco-friendly, handcrafted creations incorporate wool and silk to produce unique fiber paintings, wall hangings, and interior design pieces. She specializes in seamless wet felting, a technique that allows her to shape fabric without stitching, creating both wool water colour and monochrome sculptural pieces. President, Natalie also brings marketing expertise to help promote the Co-op and its artists.

Joyce Craig – Vice President & Window Committee
Joyce Craig is a reclaimed wood artist who transforms aged barnwood into stunning pieces of art. Inspired by nature, wildlife, and the rustic charm of historic structures, Joyce’s work preserves the unique character of each weathered plank she uses. Every knot, nail hole, and patina tells a story, making each of her pieces truly one of a kind. Vice President, Joyce also contributes her creative vision and leadership, overseeing the Co-op’s ever-changing window displays to capture the attention of visitors and passersby.

Tristen Perras – Treasurer & Display Committee
Originally from Winnipeg, Tristen Perras moved to Fernie for the legendary powder but stayed for the welcoming community. A long-time educator and artist, she creates intricate hand-knitted and crocheted pieces, as well as one-of-a-kind jewelry made from vintage and upcycled materials. Her work often incorporates semiprecious stones, sea glass, skeleton keys, and other found treasures. As Treasurer, Tristen ensures the financial health of the Co-op while also playing a key role in curating engaging and dynamic store displays.

Helena De Jong – Secretary & Jury Committee
Helena De Jong is a self-taught potter whose work is inspired by the natural beauty of Fernie’s mountains and rivers. A dedicated member of the local ceramics community, Helena also enjoys quilting, sewing, and stained glass art. She finds joy in sharing her craft through workshops and collaborations with the Fernie Potters Guild. In addition to her role as Board Secretary, Helena supports the Co-op’s operations and leads the Jury Committee, ensuring that the Co-op continues to showcase high-quality, diverse, and inspiring artwork.

Meg Moran – Member at Large & Scheduling Committee
Meg Moran is the creative force behind Meggy Makes Clay, a vibrant polymer clay jewelry brand based in Fernie. With a background in design, she expertly plays with shape, texture, and color to craft eye-catching accessories. Her work blends polymer clay with elements like resin, glitter, shell, and glass beads, resulting in playful and wearable statement pieces. Member at Large, Meg also brings fresh energy to the Scheduling Committee, helping to coordinate artist shifts and ensure the Co-op runs smoothly.
